- What it does
- Section 40904(b) of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, also known as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, authorized the Secretary of the Interior to fund the rehabilitation, reconstruction, or replacement of a dam in which construction began on or after January 1, 1905, developed pursuant to the Carey Act (43 U.S.C. 641). To be eligible for funding, the Governor of the State in which the dam is located must determine that the dam has reached its useful life and poses significant health and safety concerns; and request Federal support. The rehabilitation, reconstruction, or replacement, engineering, and permitting costs of the dam must exceed $50,000,000.
