Why this exists
The data is public. The work isn’t.
Federal spending, congressional votes, lobbying disclosures, campaign finance, stock-trade disclosures, earmarks, the Congressional Record — all published, none of it connected. Tracing how one contractor’s funding lands in a committee chair’s stock account means stitching together half a dozen government sites in different file formats, each indexing its data its own way.
Receipts Report does that work once, keeps doing it, and lets you ask for the result in plain English.

Federal contracts and grants (USAspending), bills and votes (Congress.gov), lobbying disclosures (LDA), campaign finance (FEC) — plus stock trades, earmarks, the Congressional Record, and more. Each person, bill, and dollar links to every other. Ask “who lobbies the committee chair voting on the bill that funds the contractor?” and follow the receipts.
Plain English in
Ask anything. Every number traces home.
Ask “who funded Senator Smith’s last cycle?” or “show me Sen. X’s stock trades during the months they sat on the relevant committee.” The agent translates plain English into a database query, runs it, and hands back a chart, a table, or a short paragraph. Every number cites the source it came from.
