The Target Objective for Phase Iii Is to Develop and Demonstrate a 300 CM^2 Active Area Apwr Fuel Cell, Built According to Certain Proprietary Methods, Processes and Construction Techniques, Conceived by the Contractor During the Course of Sbir Phase I and Phase Ii Apwr Fuel Cell System Efforts, as Described in the Contractor S Phase Iii Proposal, to Effect the Apwr Functionality in a Mass-produced Precision Cell Construction. the Contractor Will Construct a Single Repeatable Unit Cell, Then Two (2) 4 Cell Short Stack Test Articles, and Eventually a Full Size (nominally 2 -3 Kwe) Stack Test Article of Approximately 38 - 42 Cells. the Test Articles Are Not Prototypical of Flight Hardware, But Are Fully Prototypical From a Manufacturing Standpoint. the End Product Will Be a Manufacturing Prototype of an Apwr Hydrogen Oxygen Fuel Cell Stack That Can Be Produced as Flight Hardware at Reasonable Cost to Nasa, to Support Future Exploration Missions.
