Application Purpose: the Purpose of the Project Is to Provide a Safe Accessible and Convenient Location for Passengers to Board and Alight From Buses. This Will Create a More Efficient and Effective Public Transportation Services Especially for Priority Populations Including Individuals With Disabilities Individuals 65 and Older People With Low Incomes Veterans Children and Others.; Activities Performed: the Funds Will Cover the Following: Developing a Map of Bus Stops and Bus Shelters According to the Design Guidelines Installation All Signs and Shelters in R-o-w Deploy the Implementation Plan and Produce Real Time Information for the Passenger Throughout the BTD Service Area in Bryan / College Station Lufkin and Nacogdoches. Currently BTD Operates an Antiquated Flag-stop System That Allows Patrons to Board Anywhere Along the Route. Installing Designated Stops and Shelters Will Improve Transit Rider Safety and Overall Experience as Well as the Safety of the Non-transit Vehicles That Never Know When a Bus Will Stop. Furthermore It Will Improve the Systems Efficiency and Reliability as Schedules and Routes Can Be Determined. This in Turn Will Help Provide Better Access to Transit Services and Will Encourage Transit Usage. Modernizing the System Is Essential for the System to Grow in Response to Population Increases and User Demands.; Expected Outcomes: Improve Transit Rider Safety and Overall Experience as Well as the Safety of the Non-transit Vehicles.
