Application Purpose: the Purpose of This Project Is for the Design and Engineering Real Estate Acquisition and Utility Relocation Costs for the New Branded High Capacity 8-MILE Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Line.; Activities Performed: Design and Engineering Real Estate Acquisition and Utility Relocation.; Expected Outcomes: This Project Will Allow for More Frequent Services With Vehicles Arriving Every 10 Minutes During Peak Travel Times. the Memphis Innovation Corridor Service Will Be More Reliable Due to Its Design. Dedicated Bus-only Lanes on Segments of B.B. King Boulevard and Second Street and Transit Signal Priority Along Union Avenue Will Help Provide Reliable Service. Mobile Ticketing and Off-board Fare Collection Will Minimize the Amount of Time It Takes to Board the BRT Vehicles So Less Boarding Time Is Spent at the Stations.; Intended Beneficiaries: the Innovation Corridor Will Connect Two Opportunity Zones to Downtown Memphis and the University of Memphis Improving Access to Two of the Largest Employment Centers in the Region. the Project Will Also Provide Riders With More Frequent and Reliable Transportation Options Which Will Enable Quicker Access to Jobs and Services. Its Connections With 18 Other Bus Routes and Will Improve Transit Service for the Entire Mata Service Area Resulting in Access to 39 Percent More Jobs Within One Hour of Travel.; Subrecipient Activities: None
