1. Purpose: the Comet Was Awarded $2935190 in Federal Funds on 06/25/2021 Through the Fta Low or No Emission Vehicle Program. the Purpose of This Grant Application Is to Receive Funding to Purchase Two New Flyer Xcelsior Charge (XE35) Battery Electric Buses and Two New Flyer 40 Xcelsior (XHE40) Fuel Cell Buses Along With the Necessary Charging Equipment and Hydrogen Refueling Infrastructure. 2. Activities to Be Performed: the Comet Is Requesting Funds to Purchase Two New Flyer Xcelsior Charge (XE35) Battery Electric Buses and Two New Flyer 40 Xcelsior (XHE40) Fuel Cell Buses Along With the Necessary Charging Equipment and Hydrogen Refueling Infrastructure. These Buses Will Replace Four 2016 Starcraft Allstar Cutaway Buses at the End of Their Useful Life in 2023. 3. Expected Outcomes: the Comet Is Looking to Invest in Both of the Leading Zero-emission Technologies Battery-electric and Fuel Cell Electric to Intelligently Deploy Them on Routes That Fully Utilize the Advantages of Each Technology. by Deploying These Buses Not Only Will the Comet Reduce Local Emissions They Will Also Be Able to Establish the Skills and Familiarity Necessary to Expand the Zero-emission Fleet and Continue to Work Toward Columbias Goal of Improved Air QUALITY.4. Intended Beneficiaries: the Entire Metropolitan Columbia Area Will Benefit From Reduced Emissions and Improved Air Quality. Transit Users in Particular Will Benefit From the Testing of These Two Fuel Types So That the Comet May Determine Which Alternative Fuel Will Be Best Suited to the Area. This Will Impact Future Vehicle Purchases for the Entire Transit FLEET.5. Cte Provides the Expertise Necessary to Help Transit Agencies Mitigate Risks Associated With Zeb Deployments. Cte Understands the Technical and Administrative Challenges Associated With the Procurement Deployment and Operation of Zebs. Cte Has Managed a Range of Zeb Projects Over the Last Decade From New Bus Development and Demonstration Projects to Full Fleet Deployment Projects.
