This Is an Ffy 2019 Section 5339 Application in the Federal Amount of $584990. the Local Share of $146247 Will Be Provided by a Portion of the Richland County Penny Sales TAX.1. Purpose: the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority Dba the Comet Has Adopted an Aggressive Bus Shelter Installation Campaign Is Applying for Ffy 2019 5339 Funds for That PURPOSE.2. Activities to Be Performed: Funds in This Grant Would Go Toward the Purchase And/or Installation of Up to Eleven Bus Shelters Necessary Site Work for Installation And/or Associated Amenities Such as Bike Racks Benches Waste Receptacles Etc. the Placement of These Shelters and Amenities Will Be at Various Bus Stops or Super Stops Within the Comets Fixed Route Transit AREA.3. Expected Outcomes: Our Customers Would No Longer Suffer in Extreme Heat Wind or Rain While Waiting for Their Bus. Without Shelter in Which to Wait These Individuals May Not Be Able to Travel to Work Medical Appointments or Even the Grocery Store. Day-to-day Life Is Tough Enough Without Standing in the Rain While Waiting for Your Bus. Starting the Day Safe Dry and Comfortable May Be What Encourages Our Community to Do Better and Be Better Towards Each Other. Shelters May Have a Positive Effect on the Whole REGION!4. Intended Beneficiaries: Weather Extremes Are an Especially Serious Detriment to the Senior and Disabled Population. Shelters Would Make Waiting at Transit Stops More Comfortable to These and All Transit RIDERS.5. Subrecipient Activities: the Comet Has a Current Competitively Procured Contract With Vendors for Both the Purchase of Bus Shelters and Amenities as Well as Their Installation. the Comet Will Ensure Contractors Procured Will Not Be on the Fta Suspension and Debarment List.
