The Maricopa-stanfield Irrigation and Drainage District (district), Located in Pinal County, Arizona, Is a Partner of the Arizona Drought Contingency Plan (az DCP), a Collaborative Effort for Water Management and Conservation. the Az DCP Includes an Ag Mitigation Agreement Whereby Agricultural Water Users Are Entitled to Augment Their Water Portfolio With Groundwater Supplies During Water Shortages. the Project Consists of Constructing New Wells and Installing Several Miles of Pipelines to Convey Groundwater That Is Currently Conveyed via the Santa Rosa Canal (SRC) in an Effort to Mitigate Water Quality Impacts. the Construction of These Wells Is Required to Deliver New Groundwater Supplies in Lieu of Central Arizona Project (CAP) Water to District Landowners. the District Will Work Closely With Reclamation to Utilize the Regional Groundwater Model Developed as Part of the Eloy and Maricopa-stanfield Basin Study to Study Best Management Practices and Groundwater Impact Analysis.
