The Recipient Will Advance Planning Efforts for Its Pure Water Antelope Valley Project (project) Through Investigating the Use 5,325 Acre-feet Per Year of Recycled Water From the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts Palmdale Water Reclamation Plant to Augment Potable Water Supplies. the Ultimate Project Will Help Resolve Near-term Water Supply Shortages, Alleviate Additional Subsidence in the Basin, and Help Address the Uncertainty of Future Imported Supplies Due to Climate Change. the Recipient S Service Area Is a Disadvantaged Community With a Median Household Income at 65 Percent of the Statewide Median, and the Community Experiences Multiple Environmental Justice Burdens, Including Poverty, Unemployment, Housing, and Climate Risks. This Project Will Reliably Meet Water Demands, Reducing Reliance on Imported Water, Alleviating Groundwater Overdraft, Improving Water Quality, and Directly Improving Climate Resilience of the Disadvantaged and Underserved Community Served by the Palmdale Water District (pwd).the Project Represents a Transformative Initiative Within the Realm of Water Resource Management, Aiming to Enhance Potable Water Supplies for the Region Significantly. This Regional Recycled Water Program Will Utilize the PWDS 5,325 Acre-feet Per Year (AFY) Recycled Water Allocation From the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts Palmdale Water Reclamation Plant. the Process Involves Treating Tertiary Wastewater Up to Indirect Potable Standards Before Directly Injecting It Into the Antelope Valley Basin, Thereby Augmenting the Local Water Supply.with Project Development in Its Nascent Stages, the Urgency for Federal and or State Funding to Support This Disadvantaged Area Has Propelled PWD to Prioritize the Development of a Title Xvi Feasibility Study. These Activities Encompass Site Surveying, Geotechnical Studies, Preliminary Planning and Design, Environmental Studies, and Regulatory Compliance, Permitting, and the Evaluation of Potential Expanded Capacity Up to 10 Million Gallons Per Day. Each of These Steps Is Vital for the Projects Forward Momentum and Eventual Realization.the Recipient Will Be Completing Planning, Preliminary Design, and Environmental Work for the Project. the Prime Contractor for That Will Perform This Work Is Stantec Consulting Services, Inc.
