Award Purpose: the Yakima-tieton Irrigation District Will Build Long-term Drought Resilience by Expanding Small-scale Surface Water Storage and Increasing Stream Flow to Levels That Are Biologically Compatible for Threatened or Endangered Species in Low-flow Areas. the Project, Located in Yakima County, Washington, Will Complete Design, Permitting, and Construction of Two New Turnouts on the Main Distribution Pipeline and Will Raise the Reservoir Pool Elevation at French Canyon Dam Which Is a Reclamation Project. This Will Be Achieved by Installing New, Pre-engineered Gate Equipment at the Spillway Crest. Activities to Be Performed: Activities for This Project Will Raise the Reservoir Pool Elevation by Approximately 5 Feet at French Canyon Dam to Add Additional Storage. the Recipient Shall Also Design, Permit, and Construct Two New Turnouts on the Main Distribution Pipeline.expected Deliverables or Outcomes: the Benefits Add an Additional 144 Acre-feet of Water Per Year of Increased Storage to Provide Instream Flow and Fish Habitat Benefits to Cowiche Creek and Additional Storage and Operational Flexibility to the District Which Would Build Long-term Resilience to Drought.intended Beneficiaries: the Proposed French Canyon Dam and Cowiche Creek Water Exchange Improvements Project Will Increase the Reliability of Water Supplies and Provide Benefits for Fish, Wildlife, and or the Environment to Mitigate the Impacts Caused by Drought.
