1. Award Purpose - a Planning Study Funded by the Usfws and Cvpia Recently Evaluated Opportunities to Improve Juvenile Salmonid Rearing and Outmigration in the Migratory Corridor, the Lowermost 78 KM of the LSR From Orange Blossom Bridge (OBB) Downstream to the Confluence With the San Joaquin River. This Work Yielded the Identification of Over 200 Areas and Ranked and Prioritized Over 50 Priority Locations in the LSR. the Projects Proposed Herin Were a Direct Result of This Effort. the Tortuga Site Was Identified Through a Prior Study That Identified and Ranked Porjects That Could Improve Juvenile Rearing and Outmigration. the Mohler Tract Was Not Identified During That Study Becvuase the Area Was Previously Purchased by Usfws Almost 20 Years Ago and Revegetated. However, a Fire During the Summer of 2021 Caused Massive Mortality to Trees on the Property, Opening the Door to Explore Juvenile Salmonid Habitat Restoration. Moreover, Conversations With the U.s. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Who Own the Downstream Adjacent Parcel Suggest They May Be a Willing Partner as Well Offering Opportunity to Expand the Project Footprint and Project EFFICIENCY.2. Activities to Be Performed -restore Side Channels, Floodplain, Riverbank, Spawning (only for Tortuga) and Other Important Salmonid Habitats to Improve Spawning, Rearing, Holding, and Migratory Habitats for Freshwater Life Stages of Anadromous Salmonids in Central Valley Rivers and Their Tributaries.conduct Pre and Post Biological and Physical Monitoring, Per the Sit Tier 1 Monitoring Guidance, to Evaluate the Effectiveness of the Projects at Meeting the Needs of the Targeted Species.implement Project Designs for Salmonid Habitat Restoration PROJECTS.3.
