The Paloma Irrigation and Drainage District (PIDD) Has Operated for Over 100 Years Using Primarily Manual Controls to Deliver Water to Their Water Users. Pidd Operates and Maintains 99 Miles of Irrigation Ditches and Canals. the Irrigation System Is Inefficient and Prone to Uncontrolled Releases, Spills, and Overflows, and Requires Constant Overwatch and Maintenance. Their Irrigation System Relies on 84 Wells (64%) and Surface Water From the Gila River (25%) to Provide 185,000 Acre Feet of Water Per Year to 27,000 Acres.pidd Is Slowly Working to Upgrade Their Irrigation System. the System Optimization Review (sor, the "report," or the "project") Will Enable Pidd to Take a Broad Look at Their Entire Delivery System Ranging From Individual Components That Need Repairs, Replacement, or Improvements, to Overall Management for Coordination and Scheduling, Flow Paths, and Demand/use.pidd Will Include "best Practices" Modeling to Optimize Efficiency, Reduce Water Losses, and Improve Water Resources Management. Pidd Also Plans to Use the Sor to Identify Cost Effective Enhancement for the Daily Management of Their Complex Water Delivery Network.pidd Will Accomplish the Goals Established for the Bureau of Reclamation's Lower Colorado Basin Region's Water Conservation Field Services Program by Using the Sor to Help Develop Strategies and Implement Actions to Increase Water System Efficiency and Supply Reliability Through Recommendations That May Include Electronic Technologies With Automation and Networking. Pidd Will Incorporate These Strategies in the Next Update to Their Water Management Plan.
