Award Purpose:the Ability to Provide Fire Protection to the Communities Located Adjacent to the Urban Interface With the Wilderness as Per the General Plan/resources Management Plan 2021. the Purpose of the Shaded Fuel Break Project on Reclamation Lands Is to Restore and Maintain a Fire-adapted Ecosystem by Thinning Dense Vegetation and Removing Dead and Dying Fuels That Can Support Intense Fire Behavior With Prescribed Shaded Fuel Break Treatments. a Shaded Fuel Break Can Greatly Reduce the Intensity of a Wildland Fire, Prevent Fires From Reaching Tree Canopies, and Provide the Fire Departments and Other Responding Agencies With a Defensible Point to Fight Wildland Fires and Protect Homes and Infrastructure. by Reducing the Wildfire Intensity Factor, the Potential for Ecosystem/habitat Destruction and Impacts to Water Quality Are Greatly REDUCED.2.ACTIVITIES to Be Performed:crews Will Continue Over a Five-year Period to Perform Work in Fire Prevention Techniques, Fuels Management, Resource Protection, Project Management, Safety, and Equipment Operation. Types of Work to Be Performed Include But Are Not Limited to: Prune and Chip Tree Limbs Up to 10 Feet From Ground Surface, Cut Down and Chip Trees Less Than 4 Inches Diameter at Breast Height (DBH), Cut and Remove or Chip Brush and Shrub Vegetation, Mow or Weed Non-woody Vegetation, Remove and Dispose. California Conservation Corps Crews Will Treat Between 24-28 ACRES.3.EXPECTED Deliverables or Outcomes:vegetation Will Be Removed by Hand, Using Hand Saws, Pole Saws, and Chainsaws. Cut Materials Will Be Hauled, Stacked in Piles, and Chipped With a Mechanical Chipper. Chipped Materials Will Be Scattered Within the Project Area and Left on Site for Natural Decomposition and Soil Stability Enhancement. Although the Prescription Allows for Pile Burning This Project Has Been Planned With the Chipping Component to 1) Avoid Smoke Issues, 2) Create a More Complete Project by Cutting and Chipping, and 3) Avoid Additional Crew Time for Pile Burning. Burning May Be Used in Some Cases to Eliminate Invasive Plant Species Instead of Chipping Where the Broadcast of Material May Expand Such Species. Projects Will Be Performed by California Conservation Crews and Crew Leaders on Reclamation Lands According to the Terms and Conditions of This Mca and the Project Task Agreement Including the FOLLOWING:4.INTENDED Beneficiaries:the Benefit of This Agreement Will Provide for Reclamation's Ability to Provide Fire Protection to the Communities Located Adjacent to the Urban Interface With the Wilderness.by Reducing the Wildfire Intensity Factor, the Potential for Ecosystem/habitat Destruction and Impacts to Water Quality Are Greatly REDUCED.5.SUBRECIPIENT Activities (if Known or Specified at Time of Award): N/a
