The Inventory and Monitoring Program I M Provides Information on the Overall Condition of Park Natural Resources and the Longterm Effectiveness of Management Regimes Based on Changes in the Status and Trend of Selected Park Resources. Over the Long Term Consistently Collected Monitoring Data Will Provide Park Managers With Information Describing the Status and Longterm Trends in Resource Condition. This Information Is Fundamental to Natural Resources Stewardship Because It Provides the Context for Interpreting Observed Changes and May Provide the Basis for Modifying or Initiating New Management Practices. the I M Data Will Also Have Broad Regional Scientific Utility Because NPS Lands Often Provide the Closest Approximation of Undisturbed Reference Conditions as a Point of Comparison for Areas That Are More Impacted by Human Use. I M Networks Include Several Ecologists With Solid Quantitative Skills But Heavy Workloads. a Crucial Component of This Collaborative Project Will Be for Conservation Science Partners CSP Statisticians and Our Network Ecologists to Work Together to Determine the Most Appropriate Analytic Approaches and Work Through the Analysis Process Together. at the End of the Day We Require the Decision Support Tools to Conduct Future Analyses Independently. We Will Collaborate With the Cooperator Using the Existing Aquatic Data Sets From Across the Inventory and Monitoring Division I M to Integrate I M Data With Climate Data and Investigate Trend Over Climate and Trend Over Time. This Project Will Integrate Temporal Trends From Repeated Visits With Estimating Sensitivity to Timevarying Climate and Other Covariates. to Get Valid Estimates of Trends and Climate Responses We Must Account for Yeartoyear Fluctuations in Climate Conditions That Are Concordant Across All Sites. Summary of Project Specific Activities:the Quantitative Ecologist Will Work With I M Ecologists to Answer Complex Ecological and Quantitative Questions That Are Relevant for Managers. Project May Include But Is Not Limited Toassess Trends and Drivers of Climate Impacts to Stream Temperatures in Park Units Estimate Thermal Sensitivity Across a Range of Wadable Streams and Evaluate Occurrence of Coldwater Obligate Benthic Taxa and Fish Species Study Climate Change Effects on Stream Temps for Native Fish Species for Fish Restoration Study the Pros and Cons of Glacier Retreat in Ak Parklands Understanding Tidal Marsh Vulnerability by Precisely Determining the Elevation of Marshes With Respect to Sea Level the Tidal Range Modelling Future Water Availability at Logan Pass in the Rocky Mountain Network to Protect Endangered Stoneflies in Logan Creek Synthesize Groundwater Anchialine Pool and Marine Nearshore Water Quality to Integrate Across the Complex Hydrologic System on Hawaii Island Three Protocols and Four Parksalka Puhe Kaho Puho With Regard to the Climate Change Effects of Sealevel Rise Shoreline Alteration and Anchialine Pool Destruction and Creation and Conduct Regional or National Assessments of Water Quality or Quantity and Riparian Vegetation.the Analyses of Longterm Data Sets Will Help a Quantitative Ecologist Develop and Demonstrate Research Strategies Evaluation Skills Critical Thinking Problem Solving and Participate in Networked Conversations.
