The Award Purpose Is to Protect Wild and Scenic River Values by Achieving Watershed Management Plan Goals as Enumerated in the Eightmile River Watershed Management Plan and Engaging Beneficiary Nonprofit Organizations, Local, State, and Federal Agencies, Riverside Communities, and the General Public. the Eightmile River Wild and Scenic Coordinating Committee Will Oversee Specific Programs and Projects That Achieve Management Plan Goals, Including Water-quality Monitoring and Reporting, Mapping, Planning and Policy Services Provided to Local Municipalities and the State Government, Interpretation, School Education, Public Outreach, Volunteer Management Programs, Invasive Species Control, and Threatened and Endangered Species Monitoring Programs. It Is Anticipated That Water Quality, Recreation Access, the Development and Placement of Interpretive Waysides, and Operations Support for River Coordinating Committee Monthly Meetings Will Improve as a Result of the Award.
