This Project Under Assistance Listing 15.945, Cooperative Ecosystem Study Units Provides Full Geographic and Topical Coverage for Research, Technical Assistance, and Educational Activities Related to the Resources Contained in Units of the National Park System and Their Larger Regions. This Project Will Provide Annual Professional Development for K-12 Teachers to Integrate Knowledge of Long-term Monitoring, Resource Management, and Stewardship Principles Into Curriculum for Alaskan Students. Through the Workshop, Teachers Experience First-hand the Coastal Ecosystem and Connect With Researchers Who Are in the Field Performing Long-term Monitoring Surveys. Through These Programs, Alaska Geographic Has Built a Highly Successful Model for Introducing Teachers to Experiential Education and Transferring Lessons Back to the Classroom. the Success of This Workshop Involves Collaboration of Several Partners, Including the National Park Service (workshop Facilitator and Field Researchers), U.s. Geological Survey (field Researchers), Alaska Geographic (course Coordination and Logistics, Risk Management Consultation and Teacher Recruitment), University of Alaska Anchorage (continuing Education Credits), and Prince William Sound Regional Citizens Advisory Council (pwsrcac) (workshop Facilitation) as Well as Local Alaska Teachers.beneficiaries Include: Students in Grades K-12, Public Teachers, State and Public Nonprofit Organizations.
