Competitive Award Agreement Requirementsfunding Opportunity Number P22AS00190FUNDING Opportunity Goals Text in Recognition of the Significance of Route 66 to America S Heritage, Congress Passed an Act in 1999 to Create the Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program Administered by the National Park Service, the Program Is Dedicated to Preserving the Special Places and Stories of the Historic Highway First Funded in 2001, the Program Collaborates With Private, Nonprofit, and Government Partners to Identify, Prioritize, and Address Priority Preservation Needs of Route 66 the Program Provides Cost Share Grants for the Preservation of the Most Significant and Representative Building, Structures, Road Segments, and Cultural Landscapes Along the Length of the Route 66 Corridor, Covering Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California Cost Share Grants Are Also Available for Planning, Research and Educational Initiatives Related to the Preservation of Route 66 the Funding and Technical Assistance Provided by the Program Empowers and Leverages the Public to Preserve and Commemorate the Special Places and Stories of This Important Era of American History Requirements for All Agreementspurpose of Award Summary of the Goals and Objectives of the Project the Objective of This Project Is to Collect, Preserve, and Make Accessible Oral Histories of Those Who Experienced Work, Life, Entertainment, and Travel Along the Stretch of Route 66 That Originated in Illinois and Ran Across the Entire Length of the State From the Road S Creation in 1926 Until It Was Decommissioned in 1985 Summary of Project Specific Activities Specific Project Activities Include Collection and Archiving of Approximately 100 Oral History Interviews, Collaboration to Increase Public Exposure and Use of the Oral Histories, and Making the Oral Histories Available on the Internet Performance Goals Including Milestones and Expected Outcomes the Goals of the Project Are to Capture the Memories and Stories of Those Who Lived, Worked, Traveled and Preserved Route 66 in Illinois as Part of a Larger National Park Service Mission to Partner With Private, Nonprofit, Educational, Local State Federal Tribal Agencies to Preserve and Commemorate the Significant Sites and Stories of the Historic Route 66 Corridor, and to Make This Information Available to the Public in Order to Contribute to the Understanding, Preservation and Revitalization of Historic Route 66 From Chicago to Santa Monica Beneficiaries the Beneficiaries of the Project Are the State of Illinois and the General Public
