The National Trails System Objectives Preserve, Protect, and Develop the Components of the National Trails System, With a Strong Emphasis on Volunteer Involvement Through Financial Assistance Agreements to Operate, Develop, and Maintain Any Portion of Such a Trail Either Within or Outside a Federally Administered Area the Goals of This Task Agreement Between the National Park Service NPS and American Trails Are to Provide an Overarching Framework to Coordinate Collaborative Partnership Work to Achieving Mutual Goals in Trail Training and Information, Trail Professional Development, Stewardship, and Recreation Across NPS and Other Lands the Projects Will Engage Recipients, Partners, Communities, and or Visitors in Shared Environmental Stewardship on All Trail Types and Across a Range of Trail Activities Beneficiaries Include the General Public, States and or Their Political Subdivisions, Landowners, Private Organizations, or Individuals
