Target Population: the Target Population Includes Residents in Rural South Central Iowa and North Central Missouri Who Are Experiencing the Effects of Ob Unit Closures That Have Decreased Access to Maternal Health Care Services in the Region. Network/consortium Partnerships: Network Partners Include Chariton Valley Medical Center, a Medical Clinic, and Sullivan County Memorial Hospital, a Non-profit Hospital. Experience in Serving Underserved Rural Populations: the Lead Applicant, WCH, Is the Primary Clinical Health Care Provider in Wayne County. WCH Provides Obstetric Care for a Five-county Rural Area. Because of the Significant Ob Unit Closures in Recent Years, WCH Has Become the Sole Regional Rural Provider of Such Care. Wayne County Hospital Provides Obstetrical Services to 170-180 Maternal Patients Per Year. WCH'S Medical Staff Consists of Family Practice Physicians, a General Surgeon, a Urogynecologist, and Orthopedic Specialist, Among Others, Complemented by Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners. WCH Has Extensive Experience Leading, Maintaining, and Participating in Collaborative Community-based Care Initiatives. WCH Staff Play an Active Role in the Community, Dialoguing With Outside Organizations and Stakeholders, and Working With Community Partners to Improve the Health and Health Equity of the Hospital Catchment Area Through Innovations in Education, Patient Care, Research, and Community and Physician Engagement.
