Application Purpose: This Funding Is for Transportation Demand Management Activities in the Portland Oregon Transportation Planning Area. the Safe Route to School (SRTS) Program Works to Increase Awareness and Access to Non-single Occupancy Vehicle Trips for Students and Families at Public K-12 Schools in the Portland Metro Area.; Activities Performed: a Variety of Public Engagement and Outreach Programs Aimed at Educating and Encouraging Kids and Families to Walk Roll and Take the School Bus or Transit to School. Program Activities Are Guided by the Regional Transportation Plan and Climate Smart Strategies and Further Defined Through the Rto Program Strategy.; Expected Outcomes: SRTS Investments Are Aimed at a Reduced Number of Automobile Trips Better Access to Non-auto Travel Modes Increased Use of Non-sov Modes and Reduced Greenhouse Gas Emissions. Particular Focus Is Given to Ensuring That Programming Will Support the Travel Needs of Bipoc and Historically Underserved Communities.; Intended Beneficiaries: SRTS Investments Are Aimed at a Reduced Number of Automobile Trips Better Access to Non-auto Travel Modes Increased Use of Non-sov Modes and Reduced Greenhouse Gas Emissions. Particular Focus Is Given to Ensuring That Programming Will Support the Travel Needs of Bipoc and Historically Underserved Communities.; Subrecipient Activities: Subrecipients Conduct Public Engagement Activities That Increase Awareness of the Availability of Nonsov Modes. These Programs Are Tailored to Meet a Diverse Set of Travel Needs Specific to Different Groups of People. Activities Include Bike and Pedestrian Education Walk and Roll Encouragement Events Adult-led Walking Biking Groups and Engagement With Individual Schools and Families to Identify Barriers and Needs. the SRTS Program Works to Increase the Use of Travel Options Through a Variety of Interventions That Utilize Incentives to Encourage Program Participation and Increase Data Collection. These Incentives Are Most-often Delivered to Participants as Rewards for Survey Participation or Adult Volunteer Service to Deliver Events Random Drawings for Program Participants or Program Initiation Welcome-packets. Incentives Are in the Form of Monetary Gift-cards Materials That Support the Trip to School and Branded Safety Materials.
