Oregon Climate and Health Program: Building Capacity, Systems and Evidence for Equitable Climate Resilience - the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Proposes a Portfolio of Collaborative Climate and Health Projects That Will Reduce Negative Health Outcomes, Especially Among Populations Most Vulnerable to the Adverse Effects of Climate Change in Oregon. Building Upon a Decade of Implementing the Brace Framework, This New Cooperative Agreement Will Allow Oha to Lead Evidence-based Interventions in Collaboration With Community Partners Across the State. Projects Proposed in the Core Component Include Publishing a New Climate Impact Compendium, a Joint Northwest Climate and Health Intervention Assessment, and an Updated Five-year Community-driven Climate and Health Resilience Plan. the Funding Will Support the Implementation and Evaluation of Four Specific Adaptation Actions: the Home Interventions and Tools for Climate Hazards (HITCH) Project, the Climate and Health Adaptation Evaluation Services (CHAES) Program, the Culturally-responsive Climate and Health Curricula Grant Program, and the Interagency Oregon Climate Equity Blueprint. Our Proposed Component a Activities Will Expand Upon This Work, by Implementing and Evaluating a New Climate Community Capacity Program (CCCP) That Supports Communities Disproportionately Affected by Climate-related Disasters and Advances More Equitable Disaster Resilience Systems and Policies. Activities Proposed in Component B Will Increase the Number of Cross-sector Climate Mitigation Investments That Result in Health Co-benefits at the State and Local Levels. Activities Proposed in Component C Will Complement the Work Proposed in the Other Components by Improving and Increasing Climate and Health Data Tools and Technical Assistance to Inform Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Decision-making by Oha, Other State Agencies and Community Partners. All Proposed Activities Are Designed to Align With Our Three Guiding Principles of Being: Equity-centered, Community-driven, and Prevention-oriented.
