Strengthening Epidemiology and Strategic Information in the Republic of Zimbabwe Under the President's Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR) - Project Abstract Summary (GH21-2146) Zimbabwe Has Made Significant Progress Toward Achieving the Unaids 95-95-95 Global Targets and Is on Track to Reach Hiv Epidemic Control. a National Population-based Serosurvey (zimphia) Conducted in 2020 Estimated That 86.8% of Adults Living With Hiv Were Aware of Their Status and of These, 97.0% Were on Antiretroviral Treatment (art). Among Those on Treatment, 90.3% Had Achieved Viral Load Suppression. Zimbabwe Technical Assistance, Training and Education Centre for Health (zim-ttech), an Hiv/tb Clinical Implementing Partner Funded by Pepfar Has Contributed Significantly to the National Achievements. Zim-ttech Is a Locally Registered Zimbabwean Organization to Supports the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) by Providing Technical Support and Direct Service Delivery of Comprehensive Hiv Prevention, Treatment, and Care Services in Over 600 Health Facilities in 20 Districts in the Country. the Zim-ttech Team Across the Country Is Directly Involved in Generating, Collecting and Analyzing Strategic Information That Monitors the Hiv Epidemic. Much of These Data Are Generated in Multiple Complex Paper-based Registers Which Make It Very Difficult to Longitudinally Monitor Clients and Therefore Has Been Heavily Invested in Supporting the Development and Roll Out of the E-hr System in the Country, Through Contributing to the Business Rules for E-hr Module Development, Providing End User Feedback, Monitoring E-hr Usage and Providing First Line Support for Facility Level Troubleshooting of System Challenges. in Response to Nofo GH21-2146, Zim-ttech Proposes to Strengthen and Expand the Existing Impilo E-hr System Through the Continuous Development of Modules and Features. Working With Local Developers With Technical Assistance From Digital Initiatives Group at I-tech (digi), the Improved System Will Allow for De-duplicated Individual Level Longitudinal Tracking of Health-related Events Through the Use of Unique Identifiers for Clients and Collecting of Critical Demographic and Geographic Data at 300 Selected Health Facilities. the System Will Be Designed Using Modern Standards and Best Practices Including Fhir Data Modeling and Exchange to Be Interoperable With Other Mohcc Electronic Health Systems Such as Lims, DHIS2, Dreams DHIS2 and Logistics and Supply Chain Systems Among Others. Zim-ttech Will Ensure Availability of the Necessary Hardware, Software and Internet Connectivity to Ensure Real Time Information Sharing Within and Across Health Facilities Including Use of Unique Identifiers for Clients. to Ensure E-hr Is Relevant to Frontline Health Care Workers, Zim-ttech Will Train Staff on Data Collection as Well as on Data Use and Visualization for Decision Making. to Promote Ownership and Sustainability, Zim-ttech Will Second Key Positions Including the National E-hr Coordinator, an Ict Specialist, and E-hr Focal Persons at District and Provincial Levels That Will Work Alongside Mohcc Cadres Within the National Structures at All Levels and Ensure the That the System Reduces Duplication of Data Entry Efforts and Is Able to Automatically Generate Relevant Reports Such as the Monthly Return Forms, Quarterly and Annual Reports as Well as Mer Reports and Thus Remove the Burden of Report Writing. This Funding Will Also Allow Zim-ttech to Institutionalize and Expand Recency Testing as Part of Routine Hiv Testing. Analysis of Data Collected Through This System Will Allow Monitoring of All Recent Infections to Help Identify Foci of New Infections and Therefore Prioritize Index Testing Among These Clusters. Support for Recency Testing Will Also Include Routine Proficiency Testing and Quality Control Activities for Facility-based Health Workers, as Well as Monitoring Supply Chain for Necessary Kits and Other Commodities.
