According to the 2022 U. S. Census, Kentucky Had 69,425 Farms. Many of These Farms Are Limited Resource Operations, Which Is Illustrated by the 196 Limited Resource Farmers From Kentucky Who Attended the 2023 Small Limited-resource and Minority Farmers Conference in 2023. Additionally, the National Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Organization Reported That 80 Percent of Kentucky's Limited-resource Farmers Had an Annual Income Below $25,000, Making It Clear the Need and Importance of 1890 Land-grant Programs to Support These Farms and Upstream and Downstream Industries Related to These Farms. Kentucky State University's 1890 Land-grant Program Is Leading the Way to Obtain Greater Comprehensive Success for Limited Resource Farms. This Is Achieved Partly Through Agricultural Technology Solutions for Increasing Productivity and Diversification That Include Research on Topics Such as Organic Agriculture, Specialty Crops, Integrated Pest Management, Improving Soil Quality, Etc. Other Approaches Include Expansion of Marketing Alternatives to Limited Resource Farmers, Financing Alternatives, Improvement of Mental Health, Etc. Kentucky State University's Evans-allen Research Program Also Touches the Lives of All of the States' Citizens When It Comes to Research in Nutrition and Healt Hy Lifestyles Leading to Results to Mitigate Obesity, Diabetes, and Cancer. the Gamut of Our Research Programs Is Expressed in Our Most Recent Usda Plan of Work Addressing the Following Critical Issues: 1.
