Evans Allen Summary Delaware State University Continues to Conduct Agricultural Research and Teaching to Address the Concerns, Needs and Priorities of Growers and Communities of Delaware, Especially Those Underserved, Limited Resource Minority, and Beginning Farmers. Some of the Critical Issues of Great Importance Include: - Climate Change Impacts, Mitigation, and Adaptation; - Nutrition and Wellness; -science and Emerging Technologies; -sustainable Food Systems, Landscape, and Ecosystems. to Help Rural Communities to Be Economically Competitive and Have Consistent Access to Healthy Foods the Delaware Land Grant Research Plan, in Continued Collaboration With Extension, Will Address the Usda's Strategic Goals and Nifa Priority Science Areas. the Programs Are Designed to Address Climate Change and Human Activity Impact on Water and Natural Landscapes, Human Dimension of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources. the Research in This Priority Area Will Also Focus on Post-harvest Handling, Food Safety and Nutrition and Wellness. the University Is Undertaking Research on Sustainable Food Systems, Landscapes, and Ecosystems and on Emerging Technologies, to Provide Real-time Monitoring and Managing Systems to Stakeholders. This Will Assist Farmers to Input and Access Climate Change Adaptation Plans to Ensure Preparedness, Risk Reduction and Resilience. This Research Will Contribute to the Building of a New Framework for Ensuring Food Security and Maintain Environmental Integrity.
