Healthy People, Healthy Communities - Youth-led Approach to Positive Change - Project Abstract Summary Healthy People, Healthy Communities Is the Name of the Comprehensive Strategy That River Hills Prevention Connection (coalition) Plans to Provide in Southern Ohio 45638 Zip Code to Address the Individual, Family, and Community-level Risk and Protective Factors That Influence Youth Substance Use. Data Necessary for Informed Decision Making and Measuring Outcomes Around Youth Substance Use Behaviors Will Be Collected Through the Ohio Healthy Youth Environments Survey (ohyes!). Impact Prevention and the Coalition Will Work Collaboratively to Coordinate This Collection With Four Local Schools. Four Coalitions Utilize These Data Results to Complete the Strategic Prevention Framework Process. They Include: River Hills Prevention Connection, Dawson-bryant High, Ironton High, ST. Joseph Catholic, and Rock Hill High Youth-led Impact Teams. Party in the Parks Is a Drug-free Summer Program Provided Free of Charge for Families and Youth. This Strategy Convenes a Large Number of Local Agencies Which Provide Fun Activities for Kids While Sharing Information About the Services They Provide. Party in the Parks Is Coordinated by Impact Prevention Through Local Donations for Food That Is Served During the Events. Five Parks Come to Life During the Summer With Residents Enjoying Music, Games, Social Interactions, Food and the Great Outdoors. River Hills Prevention Connection in Collaboration With Impact Prevention Will Provide Botvin Lifeskills Training to Every Student in 5TH-7TH Grade in Dawson-bryant, Ironton, ST. Joseph Catholic and Rock Hill School Districts. This Evidence-based Strategy Studies Has Reported to Cut Tobacco Use by 87% and Alcohol Use by 60%. to Promote Protective Factors, Three Local High School Youth-led Coalitions Will Identify a Problem of Practice Around Alcohol, Tobacco, Marijuana, Opioids, or Prescription Drugs. These Schools Will Plan a Strategy Based on the Problem of Practice They Identify Specific to Their School Data. One Team, Dawson-bryant, Began Implementation of a Social Norm Campaign in Fall of 2024 Around Alcohol, Specifically 86.49% of Their Student Body Reported No to Past 30 Day Use. These Plans Will Be Monitored for Progress Every Two Years. Impact Youth Council Consists of Youth From All Schools in the County Which Meet After School Two Times a Month to Engage in Team Building Activities, Plan Social Events for High School Youth and Work on Other Special Projects to Increase Protective Factors and Provide Free Events for Students in Under-resourced Communities. Outcomes: -establish and Strengthen Collaboration Among Community Members and Organizations to Address Youth Substance Use. -reduce Substance Use Among Youth and Over Time Reduce Use Among Adults.
