Application for Drug Free Community Support Program: New (year 1) - Abstract: the Little Compton-tiverton Prevention Coalition (LCTPC) Was Established to Prevent Substance Use Among Local Youth and Support Efforts to Improve Overall Mental Health. Lctpc’s Mission Is to Mobilize and Empower Our Community Through Action, Education, Support, and Collaboration to Reduce Youth Substance Use and Overall Substance Use Over Time While Motivating Youth and Adults to Engage in Safe and Healthy Lifestyles. Lctpc Works to Meet Its Mission Through Education, Partnerships, and Community Collaboration. Lctpc Is Comprised of Representatives From the Required Twelve Community Sectors and Meets the Needs of Its Community Through a Combination of Capacity Building Strategies and Evidence-based Programs, Policies, and Practices. Lctpc Strives to Create and Implement Solutions to Old and New Problems Facing Our Combined Community Encompassing All Tiverton & Little Compton Residents, Businesses, Visitors, and Friends. Through the Drug Free Community Support Program, Lctpc Will Address Youth Marijuana and Nicotine Use and the Factors That Impact Use. Lctpc Will Strengthen Prevention Capacity and Infrastructure by Utilizing the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to Build on Existing Strengths and Close Identified Service Gaps. Lctpc’s Action Plan Is Aligned With the Steps of the SPF Framework Including Cultural Competence and Sustainability. Additionally, the Seven Strategies for Community-level Change (provide Information, Enhance Skills, Provide Support, Enhance Access/reduce Barriers, Change Consequences, Change Physical Design, Educate About Modifying or Changing Policies.) Lctpc Will Engage in a Combination of Evidence-based Strategies and Capacity Building Activities to Meet the Two DFC Goals. Lctpc Is Practiced at Balancing Evidence-based Programs, Policies, and Practices With Innovative Local Strategies to Address Identified Needs.
