Prevention Project Butler County Missouri- We Can Be Drug Free Coalition - the Mission Statement of the We Can Be Drug Free Coalition Is, “we Can Be Drug Free Is a Community Coalition That Works to Prevent the Potential Harm of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs by Empowering the Youth in Our Community.” the Purpose of This Application Is to Continue and Further the Efforts of the We Can Be Drug Free Coalition to Reach and Empower More Youth to Reduce Substance Use in the Community. We Are Dedicated to Creating Community-level Change and Have Done So by Creating a Well-balanced Plan That Addresses Personal, Community, Family, and School Risk and Protective Factors Which Have a Direct Impact on the Youth of Butler County. the We Can Be Drug Free Coalition Has Selected Outcomes That Are Realistic, Attainable, and That Will Have the Biggest Impact on Our Community. the Outcomes We Have Selected Are Directly Connected to the Drug Free Communities Long Term Goals and a Direct Product of Our Mission to Empower Youth in Our Community. Our Coalition Plans to Strengthen Collaboration Among Community Stakeholders by Working With Local School Districts and Youth in Our Area to Create Two Media Campaigns to Educate Youth and Parents About the Harmful Effects of Vaping Nicotine. We Also Plan to Collaborate With Stakeholders in the Community to Offer the Guiding Good Choices Parent Workshop, Which Is a Evidence-based Program That Helps Parents Prevent Youth Substance Use. the Coalition Is Also Committed to Reducing Substance Use Among Youth, and Over Time, Reducing Substance Use Among Adults. in Order to Achieve This Goal We Will Educate Parents and Students Who Attend Our Local Boys and Girls Club Utilizing the Botvin Life Skills Curriculum. This Evidence-based Curriculum Focuses on Healthy Decision Making, Managing Stress, and Information on the Harmful Effects of Substances. Our Final Objective Would Be to Partner With Our Local Children’s Division to Offer Parenting Classes to Parents Identified by the Organization as Needing Additional Skills and Support.
