To Prevent and Reduce Use and Misuse of Opiates Including Prescription Drugs, Methamphetamines and Heroin Among Young Adults Ages 12-19 in Fairfield City and Township, Butler County Ohio. - the Fairfield Prevention Coalition (FPC) Is Proposing an Application for Funding to Reduce the Onset and Misuse of Opioids, Methamphetamines and Legally Prescribed Drugs for Adolescents in Fairfield, Ohio. the FPC Coalition Was Established in 2004 in Fairfield Ohio (butler County) and Its Main Focus Is Universal Prevention for Substance Use Onset, Misuse and Overdose by Adolescents (grades 6-12) in the Fairfield City School District. the Coalition Is Comprised of an Eight Member Executive Committee and a 68 Member Community Coalition Board Made Up of the Twelve Sectors of a Community as Defined by the Drug Free Communities Model. FPC Was Recently Awarded a Stop Act Grant and Is Currently in Year 2 of a 5 Year Grant. Additionally, the Coalition's DFC Grant Ended in October 2020 and Is Now Developing a Sustainability Plan for 2021-2022. the FPC Is Proposing a Multi-faceted Approach to Reducing Adolescent Substance Use by a Combination of Risk Factor Reduction and Protective Factor Enhancement. by Utilizing Several Prevention Frameworks Such as Communities That Care (CTC), Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) and 40 Developmental Assets, and Such Empirically Based Programs as Pharming Effects, Hidden in Plain Site, Positive Social Norms Campaigning, and Public Awareness Campaigns, the FPC Coalition Will Work in Partnership With Five Student-led Coalitions to Market These Strategies Throughout Schools and Communities in Fairfield, Ohio. the Student-led Coalitions Are Located in Middle School, Freshman School and High School and Membership Stands at Over 100 Students in Grades 6-12. These Coalitions Have Been Recognized Nationally (cadca), Across the State of Ohio, and Locally for Their Prevention Efforts and Are Presently Working on a Positive Social Norms Campaign for the 2021-22 School Year.
