The O.s. Johnson Technical Institute (dba Johnson College), Located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Seeks Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Workforce Development Grant Support to Enhance and Further Implement a New Faa-certificated Aviation Technology Associate Degree Program That Successfully Recruits and Trains Students to Fill Growing, Essential Regional and National High Technology Workforce Development Needs in the Aviation Industry. Johnson College Is an Eligible Institution of Higher Education Accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. the Eligible Project Components Proposed Herein Request Funds to Purchase Equipment Improving a New Aviation Technology Associate Degree Program, Support Scholarships for Individuals Pursuing Employment in the Aviation Maintenance Field, and Proposes Outreach Pipeline Programs to Encourage Secondary School Students to Pursue Careers in Aviation Technology. Project Goals Include the Further Development of a Working Airport-based Training Laboratory, Pipeline Recruitment Activities for Middle and High School Students to Stimulate Interest in Aviation Maintenance Technology Careers, and Student Scholarships to Assist Students With Financial Aid. the Project Will Directly and Fully Address the Grant Programs Goal to Support the Education and Recruitment of Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers and the Development of the Aviation Maintenance Workforce. the Curriculum and Hands-on Training Supported Will Provide the Knowledge and Experience Necessary for Students Completing the Program to Satisfactorily Complete the Written, Oral, and Practical Tests Required to Be a Certified Airframe Powerplant Mechanic.
