Application Purpose: Craven County/carts Will Utilize Section 5307 Arp Funds in the Amount of $134047 for Operating Assistance to Prevent Prepare for and Respond to Coronavirus Which Includes All Expenses Normally Eligible Under Urbanized Area Formula Grants (section 5307).; Activities Performed: Activities to Be Performed Are Those Associated With the Provision of Transit Service to Include But Is Not Limited to Salaries Fuel Preventive Maintenance Which May Include the Cleaning of Vehicles and Facilities Purchase of Items Having a Useful Life of Less Than One Year Such as Personal Protective Equipment and Cleaning Supplies.; Expected Outcomes: Operating Assistance Assists With the Necessary Expenditures Required to Operate a Public Transit System Safety and Efficiently. Revenues Which Would Normally Be Used to Cover a Local Match for These Expenses Have Been Lower Than Normal While the Cost to Operating Transit Services Have Risen Due to the Effects of COVID-19. Craven County/carts Will Be Able to Maintain the Current Level of Service Without Route Interruption) by Receiving 100% Reimbursement Instead of the Normal 50% for Operating Assistance.; Intended Beneficiaries: Intended Beneficiaries Are the Residents of the New Bern Urbanized Area. Ridership Has Begun to Increase With More Riders Than Ever Utilizing Carts for Employment Related Trips. by Removing Transportation as a Barrier to Employment Residents in the Urbanized Area Are Able to Obtain and Retain Employment Which in Turn Helps Them Recover From the Effects of COVID-19 as Well.; Subrecipient Activities: None.
