The Noaa Chesapeake Bay Watershed Education and Training (b-wet) Program Will Be Providing $143,823 as a 3-YEAR Grant to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) to Support the Learning for Climate Action Project. This Project Will Address the Pressing Need for Climate Change Meaningful Watershed Educaional Experiences (MWEES) and Education Resources. CBF Will Engage Teams of Newport News, Va Educators in Field-based Professional Learning, Curriculum Writing, and Mwee Implementation. the Trained Teams of Educators Will Create, Pilot, Assess, and Embed at Least Five Sustained Mwees That Are Responsive to Their School Systems Needs and Address Climate Change. Newport News Public Schools Will Develop Mwees for Grade 5, Grade 7, and the High School Science Electives of Environmental Science, Marine Biology, and Ecology. These Efforts Will Be Supported by Climate Literacy Networks Created by This Project in Newport News and Will Be Comprised of Research Experts, Higher Education Institutions, and Environmental Non-profits. Additionally, the Student-action and Climate Education Resources That Will Be Refined in the Mwee Writing Will Be Distributed to the Public Online and Through Established Environmental and Climate Literacy Networks.
