Project Objectives: Our Three Main Goals Are to (1) Maintain and Ensure Quality & Consistent Response and Data Collection, While Surveilling for Disease; (2) Enhance and Expand Community Outreach and Educational Opportunities to Ensure Equitable Access, During an Organizational Transition Period; and (3) Close a Gap in Coverage Around Cape Ann, Massachusetts. Specific Objectives Will Rely on Established Collaborations With Stranding Organizations, Veterinarians, and Partners. Trainings, Workshops, and Conference Attendance Will Enrich Municipal First Responders, Volunteers, and Staff. a Mobile Outreach Unit, Combined With Paid Internships and New Strategic Partnerships With Local Universities, Will Create an Inclusive Pipeline for Diverse Students to Pursue Careers in Marine Science and Conservation. the Addition of a Stranding Response Specialist Position and Investment in Equipment, Supplies, and Outreach Materials Will Allow for the Formal Acquisition of the Cape Ann, Ma Response Territory, Which Has Experienced a Gap in Coverage Since 2013.
