Purpose: Ducks Unlimited Will Restore Swan Cove, the Southernmost Impoundment at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge on Assateague Island in Virginia. the Work Will Restore and Protect Valuable Salt Marsh Habitat on the Delmarva Peninsula and Support Several Important Fisheries. It Will Also Help Improve Community and Ecosystem Resilience in an Area That Is Vulnerable to Sea-level Rise, by Reestablishing a Protective Dune System, Increasing the Elevation of the Marsh Behind the Dune System, and Enhancing Tidal Exchange.
