Boatu.s. Foundation Will Administer a National Competitive Grant Competition for the Removal of Abandoned and Derelict Vessels. It Is Expected 20-75 Organizations Will Receive Grants to Remove Abandoned and Derelict Vessels From This Competition. Additionally, This Project Includes the Development of a National Abandoned and Derelict Vessel Database to Track Locations of Abandoned and Derelict Vessels and Removal Efforts. Outreach and Education Activities Include a Multi-day National Conference on Boating-related Debris Disposal to Create Peer-to-peer Relationships Between Marine Industry, Disposal Companies, and Government Entities. Other Outreach Activities Include Creating Both a Video Series Highlighting Selected Removal Projects and a Documentary on Abandoned and Derelict Vessels.
