The Overarching Goals of This Proposal Are to Improve Community Understanding of Marine Mammals as Well as Stranding Rescue Response, and to Improve the Effectiveness and Quality of Our Response. Objectives Include Holding Workshops for Community Members, Developing a Wide-reaching Communication Strategy, Printing Educational Materials, Establishing a Paid Internship, Collaborating With Pathologists to Monitor for Disease, Collecting and Sharing Data on Seal Habitat Use, Training First Responders, Volunteers, and Staff, and Ensuring Staff Participation in the 2023 Greater Atlantic Regional Stranding Network Conference.
