This Award Will Allow the Nature Conservancy to Partner With Conservation Corps Organizations Across the Gulf of Mexico to Create Conservation Jobs for Youth. This Project Will Use Funds Provided by the Restore Act to Continue the Gulfcorps Program, Which Will Provide Sustainable and Lasting Benefits to the Environment, Economy, and Communities Along the Gulf of Mexico That Have Been Impacted by the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. the Gulfcorps Program Will Provide Labor for On-the-ground Restoration Benefiting Coastal Habitats and Water Quality. These Projects Will Also Provide Short-term Employment for Local Citizens, Skills Training, and Experience in Restoration-based Jobs Which Could Support Local Workforce Development in This Field. Crews Will Likely Participate in Projects Such as Invasive Species Removal, Shoreline Stabilization, Marsh and Riparian Re-vegetation, Shellfish Restoration, and Improving Recreational Amenities.
