Application Purpose: the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Is Requesting the Award to Implement the Recommendations From New Links a Comprehensive Operations Analysis (COA) That Included a Full Bus Network Redesign. New Links Is a Project Led by the Regions Mpo the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission (RPC) to Reimagine How Public Transit Connects Orleans Jefferson and ST. Bernard Parishes. the Transit Network Was Redesigned to Create More Reliable Equitable and Connected Bus and Streetcar Service. the Award Is to Provide Funding to Allow the Agency to Replace the Fare Technology Medium and to Create or Enhance Newly Identified Neighborhood Transfer Points and Regional Transfer Hubs With Operator Comfort Stations.; Activities Performed: Upgrades to the Fare Technology Medium Will Significantly Contribute to Achieving Both These Goals. Currently Cash Transactions Make Up Over 70% of Total Fare Payments. Significant Use of Cash Payment Results in Boarding Delays. the Reduction of Cash Payment Will Drastically Reduce These Delays. the Installation of the Neighborhood Transfer Points and Regional Transfer Hubs Will Provide for a More Comfortable and Pleasant Rider Experience and Create Transit Priority Treatments That Improve Pedestrian Safety and Reduces the Potential for Conflicts With Automobiles. These Facilities Will Also Provide Much Needed Relief for Operators.; Expected Outcomes: Funding Helps Fulfill the Rtas and the Regions Goal for Riders to Have a Safe Reliable and First-class Service.; Intended Beneficiaries: the Intended Beneficiaries Are the Commuters of the New Orleans Metropolitan Area.; Subrecipient Activities: N/a
