Award Purpose: the Purpose of This Award Is to Support the Final Phase of a Longterm, Basinwide Effort to Restore Habitat in the Sandy Creek Subbasin. This Phase Focuses on Designing Restoration Actions That Reconnect Floodplain Habitat, Improve Water Quality, and Increase Rearing and Spawning Opportunities for Salmon, Steelhead, Lamprey, and Resident Trout. the Work Continues a Collaborative Process That Began in 2019 and Builds on Major Restoration Already Completed in Phase I.activities to Be Performed: to Accomplish This, the Watershed Association Hires an Engineer to Design the Replacement of a Culvert That Blocks Access to Nearly Nine Miles of Suitable Fish Habitat. Staff Also Complete the Planning, Design, and Landowner Coordination Needed to Advance the Final Phase of Wholebasin Restoration. This Includes Developing Planting and Fencing Plans, Designing Large Wood Placements, Planning Drainage Improvements at the Top Sedimentproducing Sites, and Meeting With New Landowners to Confirm Access and Implementation Details. These Combined Planning and Engineering Tasks Create the Full Design Package Required to Apply for Construction Funding for Phase Ii.expected Deliverables or Outcomes: This Project Produces Complete Engineering Designs for a Fishpassage Culvert Replacement, Detailed Plans for Riparian Enhancement and Large Wood Placement Along Over Five Miles of Stream, and Designs for Improved Drainage Infrastructure at Key Road Locations. It Also Results in Coordinated Landowner Agreements and a Full Suite of Planning Documents Needed to Seek Implementation Funds for the Final Restoration Phase. These Deliverables Support Future Work That Reconnects Floodplain Habitat, Restores Natural Channel Processes, and Improves Conditions for Salmon, Steelhead, Lamprey, and Other Aquatic Species.intended Beneficiaries: the Primary Beneficiaries Are the Fish and Wildlife That Depend on the Sandy Creek Subbasin, Including Species Important for Cultural, Commercial, and Recreational Purposes.
