Wildfire Adapted Partnership

Award Purpose: the Purpose of This Proposal Is to Continue Wildfire Adapted Partnership?s (WAP) Fire Education and Fuels Reduction Programs in Southwest Colorado, Which Support Wildfire Mitigation and Community Preparedness by Increasing Public Awareness, Implementing Fuels Reduction on Private Lands, and Protecting Lives, Property, and Community Resilience From Wildfire. Policy and Planning Support: These Fire Education and Fuels Reduction Programs Support Policy and Planning by Implementing Strategies Identified in Regional Wildfire Mitigation and Community Protection Plans, Increasing Wildfire Awareness, Prioritizing Fuels Reduction on Private Lands, and Reducing Risk to Lives and Property in Southwest Colorado. Expected Deliverables or Outcome: Expected Deliverables Include (annual Approximations Dependent on Funding) 150 Acres Treated, 80 Public Wildfire Education Meetings/events, 2 Completed Cwpp/ca Planning Documents, 75 Home Wildfire Risk Assessments, and Assistance to a Minimum of 75 Communities. These Deliverables Will Result in a More Informed Public, Increased Social License for Public and Private Fuels Reduction Activities, and Improved Forest Functionality and Reduced Wildfire Risk in Southwest Colorado. Intended Beneficiaries: the Intended Beneficiaries of Wap?s Programs Are Residents Living in the Five Southwest Colorado Counties of Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma, and San Juan. These Residents Will Gain Critical Knowledge About Fire-adapted Ecosystems, Wildfire Response and Evacuation, and Site-specific Home Wildfire Risks, Along With Actions They Can Take to Reduce Those Risks. Secondary Beneficiaries Include Local Federal and State Agencies, Which Benefit From Improved Coordination With Community and Hoa Decision-makers and Increased Public Support for Fuels Reduction Activities, Including Hand, Mechanical, and Prescribed Fire Treatments.
