Award Purpose: the Award Agreement Aims to Improve How We Grow and Collect Seeds From Important Mojave Desert Plants, So We Can Get More and Better Seeds for Restoring Local Ecosystems and Supporting Projects on Public Lands.activities to Be Performed: the Activities to Be Performed Include Following Established Protocols to Collect Seeds and Tissue Samples From Wild Plant Populations, Thoroughly Document and Analyze These Populations, and Propagate Plants in a Controlled Nursery Setting. Genetic Analyses Will Be Conducted to Evaluate the Variability and Quality of Seeds Produced, Comparing Wild Plants to Those Grown Ex Situ Across Multiple Generations. All Activities Will Be Tracked, Reported Quarterly to BLM Staff, and Resultsincluding Project Narratives, Gis Data, and Genetic Sequenceswill Be Compiled in Annual Reports and Archived for Future Reference.outcomes Deliverables: Deliverables Will Consist of Quarterly and Annual Progress Reports, Finalized Narrative Reports, Gis Shape Files, Photographs, Collection Records, Recommendations for Future Work, and Regular Updates via Conference Calls and Meetings. to Include Increased Availability of Native Plant Species for Habitat Restoration Projects, Particularly Within the Mojave Desert Ecoregion. Through Seed Processing, Genetic Analysis, Propagation Trials, and Seed Bulking, Will Provide the BLM With Critical Data on Farming Native Species, Aiding Both Restoration Planning and Commercial Crop Development.intended Beneficiaries: the Intended Beneficiaries of This Project Include the General Public, Who Will Experience Improved Air and Water Quality, Enhanced Recreational and Aesthetic Value, and Better Overall Health as a Result of Habitat Restoration Efforts. Additionally, Land Managers and Commercial Growers Will Benefit From Increased Availability of Native Seeds, Improved Restoration Techniques, and Valuable Data to Guide Restoration Planning. Ecosystems Within the Mojave Desert Ecoregion Will Also Benefit From the Restoration of Native Plant Communities, Which Supports Resilience Following Disasters and Facilitates Responsible Land-use Change and Development.
