Northwest Youth Corps

Objective Is to Provide Work Opportunities and Education for Young Participants Ages 16-30, Inclusive, or Veterans Age 35 or Younger in the Areas of Natural and Cultural Resource Conservation for Professional Development, and Scientific Studies by Offering Meaningful, Full-time, Productive Work. It Gives Participants a Mix of Work Experience, Basic and Life Skills, Education, Training, and Support Services and Provides Participants With the Opportunity to Develop Citizenship Values and Skills Through Service to Their Community and the United States. the Agreement Will Provide the BLM With a Cost-effective Way to Accomplish Priority Stewardship and Conservation Projects Through Partnerships With Youth. Participants Will Gain Experience in Conservation of Public Lands. Idaho Conservation Corps Will Work With the Idaho State BLM Offices to Engage Youth 16-18, Including Tribal Members. Young People Are Recruited From Local Communities to Assist With Conservation Projects That Protect and Promote Multiple Use on Public Lands. Icc Crews Will Help the Boise District Complete 16,390 Hours (a Total of 40 Project Weeks) Between 2023-2027 of Wilderness Trail Work the Inventory, Maintenance, and Removal of Fence Lines and Inspection of Range Improvement Projects and Bird Ladders Within the Owyhee River Watershed and Portions of the Snake River Plain. Icc Crews Will Also Complete Special Status Plant Exclosure Inventory and Maintenance, and Acec Monitoring. Specific Expected Outcomes Will Be Site Specific and Could Include Miles of Fence Line Inventory or Trail Maintenance.
