Funding Opportunity Number: L23AS00172FUNDING Opportunity Goals Text: the Purpose of the Project Is Clearly Defined in the Proposal to Aid the BLM and Other Partners in the Management of Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) to Protect, Conserve, and Enhance the Unique and Nationally Important Historical, Natural, Cultural, Scientific, Educational, Scenic, and Recreational Values of the Site as Stated in the Congressional Designating Legislation (public Law 110-229 Sec. 202. May 8, 2008). the Proposal Further Outlines the Cross Over Between the Organizations Mission and the BLMS Management at the Ona. the Proposal Is Relevant as It Aids in Achieving the Direction Set by Congress in the Onas Designation, Meets With BLMS Management Objectives and Planning for the Site and Aligns With Doi Priorities Relating to Expanding Access, Recreational Opportunities, and the Stewardship of Public Lands Resources. the Work Is Realistic Based on the Experience Between the Proponent and the BLM and Is Measurable Based on the Accomplishments of the Specific Projects Within the Proposal and the Overall Contributions to Management of the Ona E.g., Educational Enhancement, Visitor Satisfaction, Scientific Exploration Etc. the Technical Approach Clearly Identifies the Methods to Achieve the Objectives and Present a Series of Implementable Projects Scheduled Out Over the Course of the Agreement. the Success of Each of These Projects Provides a Meaningful Approach to Measure the Effectiveness of the Work. the Proposal Provides Details of the Technical Approach and Outcomes for Each of the Projects and Identifies the Roles the Applicant Has in Achieving Them. the Proposal Includes a Clear Schedule of Milestones Tasks for the Duration of the Agreement. Goals Estimated Timelines: A)engage the Local Community, Specifically Underserved Populations, to Better Understand the Critical Habitats at the Ona and Their Benefits. 1)PROVIDE Opportunities for Volunteers to Collect Seeds From Healthy, Established Plants at the Ona While Learning More About the Specific Habit, Needs of the Plants and How They Support Wildlife. 2)REGULAR Environmental Education Programming for Targeted Audiences and the Public. 3)PROVIDE Signage, Social Media Posts, Websites and Email That Encourage Responsible Use of the Trails. B)assist BLM in Monitoring Natural Resources at the Ona. 1)PROVIDE Broad Citizen Science Programs and Events. 2)RECRUIT Weekly and Monthly Volunteers to Provide Continual Monitoring of Resources. Measures: A)schedule 3 Native Plant Material Volunteer Collection Events Annually to Support the BLMS Existing Partnership With the Native Plant Society to Grow Out Native Plants in Support of Public Lands Restoration Efforts. B)develop, Design, and Install Interpretive Signage for Each of the Onas Four Habitat Areas (minimum of 4 Signs) That Incorporate Educational Materials Pertinent to the Habitat, Leave No Trace Messaging and Meet the BLMS Design Standards. C)support BLMS Social Media and Online Presence Through the Development of Content for Sharing on Social Media on Both BLM and LRD Channels. D)develop a Citizen Science Program for Water Quality Testing Around the Ona, That Could Be Expanded to Mangrove and Seagrass Monitoring. E)ensure Participate in the Indian River Lagoons Day in the Life Monitoring Program From Sites Within the Ona Annually and Utilize the Same Rigorous Investigation for Routine Environmental Education Programs. F) Conduct One or More Events Annual for Latino Conservation Week at the Ona.
