Funding Opportunity Number: L23AS00193FUNDING Opportunity Goals Text: the Purpose of the Project Is Clearly Defined in the Proposal to Aid the BLM and Other Partners in the Management of Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) to Protect, Conserve, and Enhance the Unique and Nationally Important Historical, Natural, Cultural, Scientific, Educational, Scenic, and Recreational Values of the Site as Stated in the Congressional Designating Legislation (public Law 110-229 Sec. 202. May 8, 2008). the Proposal Is Relevant as It Aids in Achieving the Direction Set by Congress in the Onas Designation, Meets With BLMS Management Objectives and Planning for the Site and Aligns With Doi Priorities Relating to Expanding Access and Enhancing Recreational Opportunities. the Work Is Realistic Based on the Experience Between the Proponent and the BLM and Is Measurable Based on the Accomplishments of the Specific Projects Within the Proposal and the Overall Contributions to Management of the Ona E.g., Educational Enhancement, Visitor Satisfaction, Scientific Exploration Etc. the Technical Approach Clearly Identifies the Methods to Achieve the Objectives and Present a Series of Implementable Projects Scheduled Out Over the Course of the Agreement. the Success of Each of These Projects Provides a Meaningful Approach to Measure the Effectiveness of the Work. the Proposal Provides Details of the Technical Approach and Outcomes for Each of the Projects and Identifies the Roles the Applicant Has in Achieving Them. the Proposal Includes a Clear Schedule of Milestones Tasks for the Duration of the Agreement. Goals Estimated Timelines: A)engage the Local Community, Specifically Underserved Populations, to Offer Enhanced Recreational Opportunities at the Ona and the Benefits of Outdoor Recreation. 1)PROVIDE Enhanced, Guided, Recreational Experiences for a Range of Audiences Throughout the Year. 2)FURTHER Enhance Knowledge and Awareness of the Ona, Public Lands, and BLM Management With Partners Across the Local Community. B)assist BLM in Monitoring Natural Resources at the Ona. 1)PROVIDE for Onsite Storage of Equipment for Outdoor Environmental Education Programs, E.g., Kayaking, Fishing, Snorkeling, Hiking. Programs Will Serve Our Local Community, Specifically Including Underserved Communities. 2)MAKE This Equipment Available to Ona Partners When Not in Use by LRD. Measures: A.complete the Installation of Storage Shed Structure as Approved by the BLM. B.we Will Conduct a Minimum of 3 Fishing Clinics Per Year and Will Focus on Engage Underserved Communities. Fishing Clinics Will Teach Children and Adults the Basics of Fishing Including Fundamental Skills, Safety Measures, and Relevant Conservation Information. C.we Will Conduct a Minimum of 4 Guided Kayak Tours Per Year. Kayak Tours Will Launch From the Ona, and Participants Will Learn About Aquatic Habitats Associated With the Ona as Well as Issues Impacting the Ona Such as Erosion and Seagrass Loss. D.we Will Conduct a Minimum of 4 Guided Snorkeling Trips for School Age Children and Older to Discover Life Beneath the Water Near the BLM Shoreline. We Will Offer Guided Snorkeling Trips in Summer During Late Incoming and High Tide Periods When Water Clarity Will Be the Best.
