The Goal of the Project Is to Increase Appreciation and Understanding of the Shirk Ranch Historic District Through the Completion of a 3D Documentation Storytelling Project. as One of the Most Intact Ranch Complexes Dating From the Late 1800S, This Experience Will Help Shed Light on Late Nineteenth and Early Twentieth-century Free-range Ranching Practices and Provide a Primer for Understanding the History of Lake County. Cyark Staff Will Travel to the Site to Complete Lidar Laser Scanning and Digital Photogrammetry of the Identified Historic Structures to Provide the BLM With High-resolution Digital Assets That Can Be Used to Improve the Existing Interpretation of the Site. While On-site, Cyark Will Record Interviews With Staff Members From the Lakeview Field Office as Well as Community Members Identified by the BLM. Following the Field Expedition, Cyark Staff Will Process the Resulting 3D Data and Collected Interviews to Produce a Mobile-responsive Web Experience That Will Be Made Accessible to the Public via Cyark.org. Cyark Will Work With the BLM and the Local Community to Annotate the Experience With Supplemental Multimedia, Including Historic Imagery, to Share the Many Stories of This Site With the Public. the Resulting Materials From This Collaboration Will Not Only Be Used for Educational and Outreach Purposes But Will Also Advance the Ability of the BLM to Manage These Resources in the Future and Will Provide an Accurate Point-in-time Assessment of Each Resource.
