The Understory Initiative

The Project Goal Is to Restore Meadow Habitat With Previously Confirmed Mardon Skipper Occupancy, and Monitor Mardon Skipper Populations for Project Effectiveness. Project Objectives Are to 1) Restore Natural Hydrologic Function of Wet Meadows 2) Protect Habitat From Ongoing Degradation and 3) Replace Noxious Weeds With Native Plant Species Necessary for Mardons as Host and Nectar Resources 4) Collect Mardon Skipper Population Data. the Goal and Associated Objectives Will Further the Understory Initiative's Mission to Facilitate the Restoration and Conservation of Native Species Habitat Through Partnership and Community Engagement. to Advance This Mission, This Project Will Help to Facilitate Partnerships for the Planning and Implementation of Restoration Actions in Wet Prairie Herbaceous Plant Communities, and Will Meet Doi Priorities to Provide Community-based Solutions to Pressing Public Lands Challenges, Including Wildland Fireprevention, Watershed Restoration, Management of Sensitive Species, and Control of Noxious Weeds. Support Is Requested to Help Meet BLM Objectives to Enhance Mardon Skipper Habitat and Continue Long-term Species Monitoring.
