This Grant Provides Fy 2012 Cmaq Funding for a Five-year Program of Transit Signal Priority (TSP) Implementation Along Priority Corridors and Strategic Cta and Pace Bus Routes in the Northeastern Il Region. in Accordance With Fhwa Policy the Federal Share Is 90%. Additionally the Local Match Will Come From the Rtas Capital Program.the Rta Proposes a Five-year Program of Transit Signal Priority (TSP) Implementation Along Priority Corridors and Strategic Cta and Pace Bus Routes. TSP Is an Operational Strategy That Facilitates the Movement of In-service Transit Vehicles in This Case Cta and Pace Buses Through Traffic-signal Controlled Intersections. by Reducing the Time That Transit Vehicles Spend Delayed at Intersection Queues TSP Can Reduce Transit Delay and Travel Time and Improve Transit Service Reliability Thereby Increasing Transit Quality of Service. It Also Has the Potential for Reducing Overall Delay at the Intersection on a Per-person Basis. at the Same Time TSP Attempts to Provide These Benefits With a Minimum of Impact on Other Facility Users Including Cross-traffic and Pedestrians. This Project Builds on and Enables the Full Realization of the Rtas 2003 Regional Transit Signal Priority Integration Plan (RTSPIP) Which Was Developed Using Cmaq Grant Funds. the Rtspip Systematically Identified Priority Corridors. the Program Will Involve Almost 400 Miles of Roadway and 1000 Signalized Intersections Across Multiple Jurisdictions. an Annual Mix of Engineering and Implementation Activities Will Be Conducted During the Five-year Implementation Period Starting in Fy 2012. Products and Services Will Include Program Managment Engineering Design Plan Specifications Communications Equipment Traffic Controller Equipment Software Hardware Construction and Training Activities. This Program Builds on Previously Federally-funded Projects IL-90-X456-00 and IL-90-X556-00. These Two Projects Initiated the Development of the Regional Transit Signal Priority Integration Plan (rtspip)-the Framework for Implementing a Regionally Coordinated and Integrated TSP System. the Rtspip Was Developed by the Rta in Partnership With Transit and Traffic-signal Operators Throughout the Region- Including Cta Pace Idot and Cdot. It Included Identification of Priority TSP Corridors and Field Demonstrations of TSP Technologies by Cta and Pace.
