Application Purpose: the Purpose of This Award Is to Support the Design and Construction of Bus Stop Improvements Throughout Our Community. the Improvements Bring These Bus Stops Into Full Ada Compliance and Provide Various Levels of Passenger Amenities Based on Ridership at That Particular Stop. Having Fully Accessible Bus Stops Enhances Transportation in Our Community by Providing Greater Access to Everyone Using Our System.; Activities Performed: Funds Will Be Used to Design Bus Stops to Be Compliant With Ada Requirements. Designs Will Be Based on Ridership in the Area to Allow for Accommodations for Certain Passenger Amenities at Each Location Such as Benches Solar Power Lights or Bus Shelters. Connect Transits Design Firm Will Coordinate With Both Municipalities to Ensure Bus Stop Improvement Projects Align With Planned Sidewalk Maintenance Activities to Improve to Overall Accessibility of Our Community.after Design the Funding Will Also Support the Construction of Bus Stops. Construction Activities Will Include Demolition of Existing Concrete Excavation of Old Material and Necessary Dirt Forming / Pouring of New Concrete and Repair of Disturbed Landscaping.; Expected Outcomes: This Funding Will Help Connect Transit Achieve Our Goal of Improving All Bus Stops Throughout Our Community to Be Sure They Have Proper Ada Specifications to Help Improve the Overall Accessibility of Our System. the Primary Beneficiary of This Project Is Customers That Must Utilize Any Type of Mobility Device to Access Our Buses. Having Fully Accessible Concrete Pads Throughout Our Community Will Make Boarding and Alighting Buses Much Easier. in Addition All Passengers Will Benefit From Improved Bus Stops Some of Which Will Include Additional Amenities Such as Benches and Shelters. Property Owners Will Enjoy Improved Stops That Include Trash Receptacles to Help Reduce Litter Around the Stops. Finally the City of Bloomington Town or Normal and Connect Transit Will Benefit by Having Wider and Safer Sidewalks Near Bus Stops With No Cracks That Cause Tripping Hazards.; Intended Beneficiaries: Connect Transits Passengers Will Benefit From This Project Especially Those That Are Using Any Type of Mobility Device. Many of Our Bus Stops Throughout the Community Are in Areas That Do Not Have Sidewalks or Any Other Infrastructure and Therefore Are Not Ideal Locations for Bus Stops. in Order to Serve Those Areas With Bus Routes Connect Transit Has Had to Put Stops in Locations That Are Not Necessarily Easy to Access. the Upgraded Stops Will Provide a Concrete Connection to the Nearest Sidewalk or Hard Surface With Ada Compliant Designs and Considerations. All Passengers Will Benefit From Easier Access Safer Sidewalks and Better Bus Stops.; Subrecipient Activities: None
