Upper Sioux Community Rural Ems Training Program - Abstract the Upper Sioux Community (USC) Is a Small Dakota Community Located Near the City of Granite Falls in Southwestern Minnesota. It Represents the Federally Recognized Indian Tribal Community That Will Be Served by These Funds. Usc Requires Qualified Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Personnel Trained in Both Physical and Mental Health Crisis Prevention and Reaction. the Current Ems Program, According to Emergency Services Director, Needs Additional Members to Combat Burnout and Compassion Fatigue. the Persistent Identified Problems Are Drug and Alcohol Abuse in the Upper Sioux Community, Including the Increased Opioid and Other Substance Use/abuse Throughout the Community. This Is in Addition to the Use and Distribution of Methamphetamine. This Issue Touches Every Life Within the Community, as It Is Not Just the Abuse, But Also the Related Consequences of Physical, Sexual, and Emotional Violence, Increased Child Welfare Needs, Criminal Activity, and Death. Consequently, Usc Tribal Police Department (USCTPD) and Ems Respond to Criminal Activity That Is the Result of Substance Abuse. Usc Intends, With This Application, to Recruit/hire New Ems Personnel, and Train All Tribal Ems Personnel in Mental Health Modules Applicable.
