Reduce Illicit Opioid Drug Use by Increasing the Access of Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) in the American Indian /alaska Native Community. Cowlitz Indian Tribe Mat-pdoa TI-21-006 - According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American Indians and Alaska Natives (ai/an) Had the Second-highest Rate of Opioid Overdose and Death Rates Out of All U.s. Ethnic Groups in 2017. Active Continuous Retention in Medication-assisted Treatment (MAT) Among Patients With Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) Is Correlated With Better Outcomes. Our Five-year Mat-pdoa Study Will Measure Over 825 Unique Patient’s Successful Retention With Continuous Active Treatment at the Cowlitz Indian Tribe Health Clinic (dupont, Wa). the Study Will Focus on the Retention Specifically in the Availability in Both Urban and Rural Ai/an Communities Where There Are No Treatment Options Available Within Each Patient’s Circumstance. the Cowlitz Mat-pdoa Study Is a Collaborative Effort With Embedded Interdisciplinary Treatment Under a Patient-centered Medical Home (PCMH) Model. Our Goal Is to Increase the Access of Behavioral Health, Mental Health, Sud Treatment, and Mat Services for the Ai/an Community by Targeting Underserved Areas and Rural Populations. Our Objective by Increasing These Services Is to (1) Obtain a 50% Retention Rate for Patients Receiving Care in Their First Respective 30 Days of Initiating Treatment, and (2) Have a Minimum of 10% Active Mat-pdoa Patients Maintain 180 Consecutive Days of Continuous Care. by Increasing Personnel Capacity, the Cowlitz Mat Program Will Be Able to Match Ongoing Rapid Outpatient Treatment Demands. the Study Will Also Continue to Provide Education and Training in Addiction Medicine, Counseling, and Other Treatment Modalities. Secondary Results Related to This Study Include Reduction in Illicit and Non-prescribed Opioid Use, Increased Engagement With the Care Team, and Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases Such as Hcv/hiv Treatment.
