Integrity Substance Abuse and Hiv Prevention Navigator Program - Summary Integrity Inc., Also Recognized as Integrity House or Integrity, Proposes to Build Upon the Work of Our Prevention and Education Department to Provide Comprehensive Individual and Community Based Education and Awareness on the Risks of Hiv Associated With Substance Misuse. Integrity Will Engage With Multiple Partner Organizations Who Provide Hiv Treatment Services in Essex County to; Implement Targeted Risk Reduction Education to Our Target Audience, Educate Healthcare Providers on the Importance of Co-intervention Services for Hiv and Substance Use Disorder, Provide Hiv Testing, and Develop Awareness Campaigns of the Risks of Hiv Associated With Substance Misuse. Description of Target Population Integrity Proposes to Serve Young People, Age 13 to 24, With a Focus on Minority Youth Most at Risk for Substance Misuse and Hiv. Our Proposed Program Will Take Place Throughout Essex County With a Concentration on the Greater Newark Area. With a Goal to Make Substance Misuse and Hiv Prevention Services Increasingly Accessible to Those in Need, Integrity Will Also Utilize Samhsa Resources to Serve Individuals Who Are Particularly Vulnerable, Which Includes Pregnant People With Substance Use Disorder and Individuals Who Identify as Lgbtq. Summary of Services Integrity Will Provide Services in Three Main Categories: Comprehensive Hiv and Substance Misuse Education Using the Clear Program Model, Integrity Will Provide Individuals at Greatest Risk of Hiv and Substance Misuse With One-on-one Education Over 4-6 Sessions to Increase Knowledge of the Associated Risks for Hiv in Substance Use, Positive Behavior Change to Eliminate or Limit the Risk of Hiv Transmission, Improved Social Emotional Awareness and Coping Skills, and Development of Prosocial Short- and Long-term Goals. Group Education Sessions Will Also Be Implemented Using the HHRP Curricula Which Promotes Abstinence From Illicit Drug Use, Reduced Drug Use, Reduced Risk for Hiv Transmission, and Improved Medical, Psychological, and Social Functioning. Finally, Integrity’s Prevention Department Will Work Closely With Our Hiv Care Provider Partners to Develop Training and Education Materials to Be Implemented With Other Substance Use Disorder Treatment Providers on the Importance of Screening for Hiv and Assuring That Clinical Care Needs Are Met If an Individual Is Determined to Be Infected With Hiv. Hiv Testing and Referrals for Service Through Our Prevention Department, Integrity Offers Hiv Prevention Education as Well as Hiv Screening and Testing in Partnership With Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Rwjbarnabas Health. Additionally, Integrity Will Offer a Continuum of Substance Use Disorder Treatment Options That Will Be Available to Individuals Seen Through This Proposed Project With a Need for Treatment. Individuals in Need of Hiv Care Will Be Referred to an Appropriate Partner. Community Awareness Campaigns Integrity’s Marketing and External Affairs Department Will Collaborate With Different Partners to Tailor Our Messaging and Develop Campaigns and Outreach Materials on the Importance of Seeking Treatment and Risks of Hiv Transmission via Certain Drug Behaviors. Once Messaging Has Been Established, Integrity Will Be Able to Disseminate Materials at Different Community Events We Frequent and Can Establish Concentrated Outreach and Awareness Campaigns. Local Health Agency Coordination Integrity Will Collaborate With the City of Newark Department of Health and Community Wellness to Serve as a Referral Source to Target Populations. the Department Will Also Share Relevant Data and Statistics With Integrity to Ensure More Coordinated Care and Measure Project Effectiveness; and Work With Integrity to Leverage Additional Investments and Initiatives.
